Kirat Babani
Kirat Babani (1922-2015), apart from being a student leader and freedom fighter, was one of the pioneering leaders of the progressive writers movement in Sindhi Literature. After being banished to India from a Pakistani jail, in India he left active politics and devoted himself to literature and the Sindhiyat movement – a call retain the distinct identity of the Sindhi community scattered in India after partition. He was one of the leading lights of the movement which led to the struggle for inclusion of the Sindhi Language in the Eight Schedule of the Indian Constitution.
He was honored by various institutions and was awarded by Sahitya Akademi for his book of plays in the year 2004.
