Prabhu Wafa
Prabhu Wafa (1915-2012) is a prominent Sindhi poet. He started poetry at the young age of 13 years. He learnt the craft of poetry from his teacher Janab Nawazali “Niyaz”. He rigorously perused the art of Persian prosody and was soon attending ‘Mushairas’ and won acclaim of senor poets.
His works were published in literary Journals which won him critical acclaim. He came under the influence of Kishinchand ‘ Bewas’ a prominent poet of his time who proved to be catalyst in creating new paths and themes for Sindhi poetry. It was his vision that heralded a new epoch in Sindhi poetry which shed the persio-Arabic influence and poetry came to be written in common man’s language, nature and the life of common people became the subject matter of poetry.
